Sherry Standage, MS, ARNP

Sherry graduated from nursing school in 1976 from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and went to work at Blackwell General Hospital as an RN. She became the director of the Operating Room and Central Service for eight years. Sherry transferred to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma as the director of the Operating Room with the added responsibility of the Recovery Room and Outpatient Surgery. Her educational endeavors during that time included a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas and a Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University in Health Promotion and Wellness. Sherry also held several offices including President of the Association of Operating Room Nurses chapter of Northern Oklahoma. She also was the research coordinator for the FDA approval process of the lithotripsy machine for 2 years and published book reviews for the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Sherry then began her own business, Wellness Enterprises, to enhance health promotion and wellness to businesses and individuals and continued this for 2 years until she began her Nurse Practitioner education at the University of Oklahoma. She graduated 1997 with a Masters Degree and is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Committee of the American Nurse’s Association and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). She began working at Newkirk, Tonkawa, and Ponca City, Oklahoma as a Family Nurse Practitioner in clinics managed by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Ponca City. During this time she served on the Board for the Opportunity Center of Northern Oklahoma for the Developmentally Handicapped and volunteered in the hospital’s free clinic. Sherry then opened a Family Practice clinic with Dr. Jackie Garland in Ponca City, Oklahoma until her husband passed away and then she moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2001 and worked in Occupation Medicine for the next eight years. Sherry remarried to Kenneth Standage three years ago. She has one son, three step-children and five grandchildren.
